GARAJ KITAP
British painter Roger Hilton (1911–1975) began his career as a figurative artist, yet in the 1950s he became involved in the school of abstraction that emerged from St. Ives, Cornwall, along with artists Ben Nicholson, Peter Lanyon, Patrick Heron, Barbara Hepworth, and Terry Frost. From this point Hilton switched constantly between abstract and figurative painting, including the exuberant nudes that are among his most popular and enduring works. Illustrated with 60 reproductions and photos, Chris Stephens’s book examines Hilton’s life and work, his artistic development, and the role played by the St. Ives school in his painting.
